The Campotto Oasis

The naturalistic Campotto Oasis is found between Bologna and Ravenna, to be more precise close to the city of Medicina. The first time you go it’s almost disturbing… it feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere (and it’s true in a certain way given that it extends for over 1,000 hectares of land!). From the white pebbly streets you can’t see anything but the horizon ( as you can see in the above photo), and all around there are fields or ponds in which various species of birds take refuge.
If you are lovers of bird watching then this is the place for you. It’s possible to admire diverse species of birds that find refreshment in the enormous “tubs” of water. It’s truly a relaxing place, amongst the various chirps, without any type of human noise. Some personal advice though: if you decide to go there it would be best to take a bicycle! In fact, we tried to follow a path on foot, but the distances are truly enormous and you risk getting tired even before seeing a small part of the entire park!
