A typical day in the mountains

When we’re on vacation in the mountains (whether in Austria or Germany) our typical day adjusted to fit their rhythm: which is to get up early in the morning at 7 and to go to bed early as well (usually around 10:30).

The thing that really upsets our Italian habits the most is the eating schedule. If for lunch the time varies from noon to one thirty (two o’clock is already late), the evening is when you risk having the door slammed in your face if you’re thinking about going to eat at a restaurant at 9pm!
In fact, dinner begins at 5:30-6 (I’m not joking) and finishes at 8-8:30 at the latest. But if you arrive at a restaurant at 8:30 it’s likely that they will tell you that the kitchen is already closed!

That clearly goes for somewhat small towns, in case you find yourself Vienna, Salzburg, or Monaco you can find something open easier, but if you’re used to eating at 10pm you’ll have trouble even here…!
