In the photo above you can admire a closeup of a giant bilberries plant I found last week of august, while taking a short walk in the wood nearby our house (in Taro Valley, Italy). The bilberries usually grow above 800-900m on the sea level, but we never saw such big ones before!! Of course they couldn’t escape us, and I must admit they tasted good.
It’s really cool, walking in peace in wonderful woods, and find along the path such beautiful surprises. Tasting the nature’s food like men used to do time ago, without any OGM or import/export from suspicious countries…

Lido delle Nazioni is a resort that is found on the Adriatic Riviera: 2 years ago I decided to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday by spending a weekend there.
A friend of mine who has a house there kindly lent me the keys, so why not take advantage?
I have to say that I was pretty upset with the place… there was nothing special about the sea and there were a lot of people there (I hate crowds).
But I have to admit that the restaurant along the seafront that we stopped to eat at wasn’t bad! We inhaled an enormous plate of spaghetti with crustaceans, with a delicious white wine. If you aren’t afraid to let your mouth water look here below:

Both of us only spent a combined total of 17 euros, not bad. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name of the restaurant…

Before leaving I asked myself this question a lot. Once I arrived, I have to admit that it wasn’t bad! For a semi-vegetarian like me, the broad selection of fruits and vegetables left me pleasantly satisfied.
In any case, for those like me who don’t want to give up traditional, typical Italian cuisine even on vacation, there were different first courses available every day: from spaghetti alla bolognese, to risotto alla milanese. All in all I’d say that I couldn’t complain as far as variety is concerned.
You have to be careful though, when you eat outside of your holiday village, especially raw vegetables. My girlfriend was the victim of food poisoning that left her out of use for 3 days… which isn’t the greatest during a vacation!
Anyways… another pleasing find in the holiday village, other than artistic, was a basket of bread… very attractive
