incredible, right? he was just in front of our door, in our wood nearby the house! we could see him from our windows… and we aren’t living exactly in the mountains, so that was really surprising. Unfortunately now we have made a fence all around the house perimeter so it’s unlikely we will ever see such beautiful animals so close…

the beautiful mountainous landscape you can see is located in Austria, nearby the small village of Zurs.

The day is sunny, beautiful, already from the morning. The air is fresh, clear. The sky is deep blue and not a single cloud on sight: a climate particularly good considering that recently we got used to semi-tropical heat here in Italy…!

So we decided to take a day off, to explore some mountains nearby. Once again our starting point was “Passo della Cappelletta”, that connects Emilia Romagna with Liguria.

Once we arrived there, the view was incredible… I have no words to describe it, and I hope that the photos can at least give you a vague idea of what beautiful day it was. We took the official path that leads to Mount Gottero, even if we didn’t manage to reach the top because of time constraints.

Of course the cows aren’t missing even this time. They add a “bavarian” touch to the landscape. If I didn’t know, I could even be thinking to be really in Austria or Bavary. We even met another group of escursionists during our trip, very unusual for those places.

Just before heading back home I have time to take some funny pictures… a really weird shaped tree. It seems almost an enormous mouth, with a nose!

Another interesting place we had the pleasure to visit nearby Bizau is a very high and spectacular waterfall near the town of Mellau. Funny thing is, we spotted it by pure chance while we were driving in the road that passes nearby (picture below).

So we decided to park the car in a small side-road, nearby a group of houses that are just in front of the waterfall. It isn’t a big one (or to say it more correctly, doesn’t have a high water flux) but is very tall as you can see from the pictures.

In the picture below you can spot the small head of my dog Artù that, as always, went forward us to explore the place first. Of course it is just a small place, not crowded or famous at all, but was a pleasant discovery nonetheless. Instead I could appreciate it even more, it was like we were the first men to explore that place, to discover a small, hidden gem in the deep of the wonderful and green austrian woods

One of the first places we went to visit was Feldkirk, because we were curious to see it, since our guide book was promoting it as “very nice old town with a castle on top of a hill”. On the road to get there we stopped in “Damuls” one of the several typical mountain villages you can find in Austria. It was a pleasant stop, and we could relax there in the afternoon.

The wonderful landscape you see in the photo below was taken from a small path nearby…

resuming our trip, more great landscapes like the mountains below were absolutely normal. We would have liked to stop behind every road turn to take pictures of those places from every possible angle!

at last, we reached Feldkirk, and I must admit that our guide book was right. The town is magnificent, rich of renovated old buildings like the one below. If only all the towns were like that!

A very funny place was a local wine-shop (photo below) , that had a giant barrel framed in the outside wall! it was a funny but at same time majestic view.

In the photo below instead you can see the Feldkirk’s Castle, not so great like the others I’ve seen in Bavary, but surely not bad either.

Of course there were plenty of interesting things to see, like churches or squares. However we wasted too much time in the morning exploring Damuls surroundings, so we had only the time to take a quick look. From what I could see, Feldkirk is a town worth checking out for sure.
